Fire at Bengaluru’s Kailash Bar & Restaurant: 5 employees charred to death

Five employees of a bar-cum-restaurant were charred to death when a major fire broke out at Kumbaara Sangha building in Kalasipalya in Bengaluru during Monday morning, police said.

The incident occurred at 2:30 am at Kailash Bar and Restaurant when the employees were asleep.
Police identified the victims as Swami (23), Prasad (20), Mahesh, all residents of Tumakuru, Manjunath (45) from Hassan and Keerthi (24) from Mandya.

West Bengal man arrested for stalking Sachin Tendulkar’s daughter Sara

A 27-year-old man from East Midnapore district in West Bengal was on Sunday arrested for allegedly harassing cricketer Sachin Tendulkar’s daughter, Sara, over the phone, police said.

Deb Kumar Maiti, a resident of Debkundu village near Geonkhali under Mahisadal Police Station, had gone to Mumbai sometime back to visit his elder brother when he somehow got hold of her number, they said.

He then called Sara several times and expressed his desire to marry her, they added.

Fodder scam: Court to announce Lalu Prasad’s quantum of punishment today

The Ranchi Special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court will now pronounce the quantum of sentence against Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad in connection with fodder scam on Friday.

During the proceedings, the court said that Bihar vigilance Director General, Janata Dal (United) leader Jagdish Sharma and former Bihar Director General of Police D P Ojha are the main masterminds in the scam.

Earlier on January 3, the court deferred the matter due to the demise of advocate Vindeshwari Prasad.

The court also found Lalu’s son Tejashwi Yadav and other party leaders Raghuvansh Prasad Singh and Manoj Jha guilty of contempt of court.

Indian roads may see a new colour on the number plates of cars — a green one, with the NITI Aayog planning such a move for electric vehicles. Fodder scam: Sentencing of RJD chief Lalu Yadav tomorrow

A special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court was to pronounce the quantum of sentence for former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad who has been convicted in a fodder scam case. However, the sentencing has been postponed to Thursday due to the passing away of advocate Vindeshwari Prasad, according to TV reports.
